Jack Algiere is Chief Agroecology Officer and a founding farmer at Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture, a non-profit 400 acre educational organic farm and research center in Pocantico Hills, New York. As an agroecologist, he works at the intersection of food and agriculture and has overseen the Stone Barns Farm ecosystem since its beginning in 2003. Having spent two decades working with the Blue Hill Restaurant at Stone Barns, he seeks transformative change in our regional food system through practical farming techniques and culinary R&D relating to soil practices and health. He is also a consultant on preservation at the New York State Rockefeller Preserve.
Judson Reid, Senior Extension Associate for Urban Agriculture Cornell Cooperative, Penn Yan, NY
Judson Reid grew up on a dairy farm in upstate New York and earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from Cornell University. As a Senior Extension Associate with Cornell Cooperative Extension, he serves as a team leader for Harvest NY, an innovative CCE group which focuses on rural and urban agriculture. In this role he oversees a diverse set of programs including high tunnel greenhouse production and research on nutrient and pest management for vegetable growers. In addition, he has conducted many educational consulting sessions with farmers in the US as well as in Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean, Cuba, Eastern Europe, Africa, and Central Asia.
Dacotah Rousseau, Managing Director, Down-to-Earth Farmers Markets, Ossining, NY.
Dacotah Rousseau, a native New Yorker, is Managing Director of Down to Earth Markets, a thirty-year-old Certified B-Corp committed to balancing profit and purpose. Following a career in the wine and spirits industry, in 2016 Dacotah brought her entrepreneurial skills to Down to Earth and, in 2021, became its Managing Director. In keeping with B-Corp values to balance profit and people and to care for the environment, Down to Earth manages nine farmers’ markets throughout New York and Westchester. It envisions a strong regional food system of independent farms and food businesses in order to grow the local food economy and to provide a healthy alternative to the mega food industry.
Dale Strickler, Landowner and Regenerative Agriculture Advisor to Agspire, Wichita, Kansas
Dale Strickler is an agronomist and landowner advisor for Agspire, a consulting company which develops sustainability and regenerative agriculture goals for farmers around the country. As an agronomist, he has worked for Land O’ Lakes, Star Seed, Valient USA, and Green Cover Seed. He grew up on a diversified farm near Colony, Kansas. After attending Kansas State University where he received his BS and MS Degrees in agronomy, Dale taught at Cloud County Community College for 15 years and is the author of three books: The Drought Resistant Farm, Managing Pasture, and The Complete Guide to Restoring Your Soil. Dale is involved in family farming and ranching near Colony and is a recognized leader in the soil health movement.
